Reasons Dad Needs a Boat Upgrade | Pontoon-Depot
Dear Dad:
Remember all the times I said, “I forgot”?
I really did.
Remember all the times I said, “It was like that when I found it”?
It wasn’t.
Remember all the jars you opened, spiders you killed, things you fixed, monsters you slayed and oil changes you took care of?
Thank you.
Mom and I have talked, and we’ve decided it’s time you did something for you. No, not fishing with your buddies. I mean, that’s nice. But we were thinking about something, well, a little “more.”
Have you ever thought about upgrading the boat?
We know you love that old boat. But, can we be honest? It’s sort of seen better days. OK. There’s no sort of about. It has! So it’s time.
The carpet is, well, gross. A new vinyl floor would look great, and be a heck of a lot easier to clean. Plus, it’s slip-resistant, so you won’t take a spill.
We know you like to take the boat out for a little night fishing, from time to time, too. But it can be hard to see everything you need to, out on the water in the dark. Add some LED lights in just the right places, and you won’t have any trouble finding your tackle. Or your snacks.
One of our favorite things about the boat is the bimini top. But the straps have become really worn. Maybe some new ones?
We hate to break it to you, but those boat seats? We don’t want to sit on them anymore. You can only hide so much with a beach towel, Dad. It’s time to invest in a new set of seats. You won’t regret it.
So what do you say, Dad? Are you ready to upgrade the boat? You can still take your friends out fishing, too. Just, maybe, check with mom first.
Happy Father’s Day!
Love, Your KidMeticulous Maintenance | Pontoon-Depot
You love your pontoon boat. You take pride in maintaining it. You do so to protect your investment, keep your family and friends safe, and to look good out on the water!
Replacing shabby old flooring and seating is a no-brainer. These prominent pieces can be the difference between cruising in comfort and style or drifting in dishonor! Still, there’s a lot more to peak pontoon performance than these most obvious objects…
Sometimes the smallest, most inexpensive component can save the day - or ruin it. Perhaps you know this all too well from past personal experience.
As you prepare your vessel for the summer boating season, be sure to look over every square inch of it. Is anything broken, missing, unsafe, or just plain ugly?
Consider the following list of inexpensive, easy upgrades/replacement parts:
- Cleats - Look for broken or missing cleats.
- Fence Savers - Cheap, easy way to defend against damage!
- Fender Savers - Cheap, easy, and precautionary parts.
- Battery Box - Keep it clean and contained.
- Lights - Do you need replacement lights, better lights, or more lights?
- Fuel Tanks - Do you need a new, larger, or auxiliary tank?
- Fuel Line Kit - Is it time to replace or improve?
- Fuel Filter - Often overlooked… Is yours due to be replaced?
- Primer Bulb - Is yours cracked, leaking?
Don’t put to sea until your pontoon boat is pretty, polished, purring, and properly prepared!

Every Pontoon Boat is a Fishing Boat Just Waiting to be Released
People fall in love with pontoon boats because you can pile everyone you know and their pets onto the deck, shove off and have some fun. They float a ton of people, they're comfortable and cozy, and they just ooze party.
One look at a pontoon boat full of people passing, and your first thought is, "Man, they look like they're having a blast!"
One thing that people tend to forget, however, is that a pontoon can double as a mighty fine little fishing boat — all it takes is a little jazzing up and a some imaginative accessorizing.
You're going to need a fishfinder, like the Lowrance Mark-5X. That little beauty will reveal even the most closely guarded underwater hiding spots.
Then there's music. If you go fishing with purists, they'll sometimes yell at you that the music is scaring the fish. Yeah, well, let them be scared then. This is pontoon boat, for goodness sake, and we need some tunes.
Set yourself up with a Boss receiver and some marine speakers and you'll be good to go — frightened fish and all.
If you're going to be out there chasing fish all day and into the evening, you're going to want some lighting. Whether it's a fold-down light, an LED utility strip, a pole light or a combination sidelight, you'll have the upper hand.
If there's one thing that separates fish from man, it's mechanized illumination. And gills.
Finally, there's flooring.
When you finally haul one in, and he's there flopping around on your already-scummy boat carpeting, that slimy little fish is not going to make that primitive marine flooring any easier to clean.
When you upgrade to MariDeck vinyl flooring, however, that slimy sucker can flip and flop until his little fish heart's content. All it will take is a quick rinse to get right back to brand new.
So, there you have it. You love your pontoon boat because it's a floating getaway and a waterproof party — but don't forget, somewhere inside is a fishing boat just waiting to break free.

Electric Pontoon Boats: Different Engines, Same Flooring Needs
For some people, electric pontoon boats are maritime heaven.
Since you don't have to worry about paying for fuel, they're cost effective in the long run. They're great in shallow water, they're kind to the environment and they're perfect for bodies of water that prohibit combustion engines.
But don't get to thinking that since your pontoon's engine doesn't rumble and growl like a gas guzzler that you can get away with substandard flooring. No matter how your boat is powered, water, iced tea, fish goop, suntan lotion and all the rest IS going to wind up on your boat's deck.
If you have marine carpeting, that means a gross, smelly, matted mess that's impossible to clean. Dirty boat carpeting — which is all boat carpeting outside of the dealer showroom — makes your boat look old and busted.
On the other hand, dump that same sunscreen, fish goop, water and iced tea on MariDeck flooring — which you'd be crazy not to install on your electric boat — and it's a whole different story.
Now it's easy to clean and looking like new again with just a little basic maintenance. Even better, you won't slip or lose your footing even a little bit while it's still wet and slimy out on the water.
No matter your propulsion system, your boat's deck is going to get a mess thrown at it on the water. Add kids, pets or anyone who's prone to seasickness, and that mess gets a whole lot messier real quick. High-quality vinyl flooring can stand up to the challenge. Sad, old boat carpeting can not.
With all the options MariDeck offers, you'll find the color and pattern you love and the level of thickness and toughness you need.
You're electric boat protects the environment and defends your wallet against rising gas prices. Pay back the favor. Protect and defend your boat's deck with superior flooring.
